Nouf Aljowaysir is a product designer at Medium and a new media artist based in Brooklyn. She splits her time between the art and tech world to study how technologies are designed and their consequential impacts on society and culture. Her artistic work specifically focuses on artificial intelligence and our changing intimate relationship with algorithms. Her approach is grounded in research, exploring how tools of "intelligence" interpret and organize our world, thereby challenging the control systems established by Western ideologies.
She has exhibited projects in galleries and festivals globally, including Centre Pompidou, Museo Tamayo, CPH:DOX, the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Tribeca Film Festival, and others.
Nouf has been awarded residencies at ThoughtWorks Arts and Somerset House. At Somerset House, she created her latest work, Ana Min Wein? (Where am I From?), which won the 2023 Lumen Prize in the Moving Image category.
